1968 Corvette Convertible 427 Auto NUMBER MATCHING. This is a project car. It has its number matching 427 big block motor Turbo 400 transmission and positraction rear end. The motor is complete but the heads are off. It was a complete running motor when purchased, but the previous owner kept the heads that were on it and passed on the good original heads. The body is complete with its original big block hood, and hard top which have both been modified. The hard top has been bonded to the deck lid and the deck lid has been cut out to be a coupe. I dont believe any damage was done to the rear deck of the car and once the hard top is removed you will only need to replace the deck lid which covers the top when it is down. There are no top bows, the interior is complete and correct except for the steering wheel. All gauges are present and correct. The storage compartment is broken as well. Seat belts are all there. It has the correct radiator and power brake master cylinder, the frame is straight and only has minor surface rust no flakes or holes. All correct big block components are there. All suspension components need to be rebuilt. The car does seem very solid and does have many original parts still. The body has had the 70 style fender extentions bonded on three of the fenders at the bottom, looks like someone forgot the pass rear. These should be removable with out any damage to the fenders. The passenger fender has a crack above the wheel well, the lower valance is bad and Le Mans head lighs were added. They filled in the bumper notch at the edge of the hood surround which would need to be dug out. The big block hood is all there they just added plywood, foam and bondo on top of the existing hood that had a hole cut in it for the air cleaner. Really this needs some serious body work but it looks like they just filled and bonded right on top of everything so once you remove it, it should be pretty good. I do not have the original head lights or the wiper door assembly. Options, Power windows, power brakes, power steering, 390HP 427, TH400. I have not bothered to look for a tank sticker, it may very well be there. The Numbers: Block casting is 3935439, Block pad 18S426283 T0709IQ = July 9th IQ= 390hp th400, Heads 3931063 Date G-5-8 The other says SAMPL, Transmission - I Can't see the tag with it in the car but it is a correct TH400 and probably the original. Rear end - I cant read a thing on the Rear end but it appears to be the original. Hard top glass JX May 1968 Trim plate date L-20 July 20th Paint 992 Corvette bronze Interior 435 tabacco. This is a project but will make a great hot rod, race car or save her and put it back to the way she used to be. A new title is in prosses now. This should come in about three weeks. 75,091 miles. Colors from the trim plate. August 20, 2008. |
